Can You Guess New Jersey’s Most Popular Baby Names?

Social Security just released a list of the most popular baby names for 2018, including a breakdown of the most popular names in each state.

Here are NJ's most popular female names:

1. Emma
2. Isabella
3. Olivia
4. Mia
5. Ava

Emma was also the most popular female name in the entire U.S.  In fact, 4 of the most popular names in New Jersey were also in the top 5 nationally.  The only exception was Mia, which was ranked #7 nationally.

And these are NJ's most popular male names:

1. Liam
2. Noah
3. Jacob
4. Michael
5. Matthew

Similar to female names, Liam topped both the national and New Jersey lists.  Noah was #2 on both lists, but Jacob, Michael and Matthew did not even make the top 10 on the national list.  William, James and Oliver were ranked 3-5 in the U.S.

The most popular female names in Pennsylvania are Emma, Olivia, Ava, Charlotte and Sophia.  The most popular male names in PA are Liam, Noah, Benjamin, Mason and Michael.
