At times, it feels like the Coronavirus pandemic has caused every aspect of our lives to be put on hold, but there are some things that can be paused.  That's why it's good to know that services like Central Jersey Legal Services are still available to those who need it.

According to Central Jersey Legal Services's Facebook page, they provide free "civil legal aid for low-income people in Mercer, Middlesex & Union Counties."

On Friday, Janice Chapin, Executive Director of Central Jersey Legal Services, reached out to us in hopes that we could help get the word out that although their physical offices are closed, they are working remotely and "answering the phones" and continuing to represent their clients and accepting new clients.

Chapin said that Central Jersey Legal Services handles things like...

  • Assistance for tenants in landlord-tenant matters;
  • Representation for survivors of domestic violence;
  • Help with appeals of unemployment denials, public benefits, SSI, Medicare, and Medicaid;
  • Representation for defrauded consumers;
  • Handling bankruptcies.

If you need legal assistance, you can contact Central Jersey Legal Services Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

In Mercer County, call 609-695-6249.

In Middlesex County, call 732-249-7600
