Benny Blanco just revealed that he originally started working on his number one smash "Eastside" in Philadelphia.

Benny made an official announcement on Instagram letting his followers know the that "Eastside" reached the number one spot on the US Top 40 radio chart. Sharing his excitement on social media, Benny gave us more insight on the creation of the song.

His Instagram post revealed that the song started in a hotel room in Philadelphia. It then got co-written by Halsey, Khalid and Ed Sheeran. What's even more amazing is that this song did not shoot up to number one instantly. It was on the charts for 30 weeks before finally reaching the top spot.

Benny has had an amazing career producing hit records for Katy Perry, Kesha, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa, Ed Sheeran and more. Yet what makes "Eastside" so special is that it's the first song that he officially put out as an artist with his name attached to it.

Maybe the City of Brotherly Love is what inspired this labor of love for Benny, Halsey, Khalid and the other co-writers.
