Today starts a very special weekend for law enforcement officers everywhere. Today starts a bike ride called the Police Unity Tour and it's raised millions of dollars sine it began in 1997. The Police Unity Tour is a 3 day bike ride down to Washington D.C. to raise awareness and funds for officers killed in the line of duty. The other purpose of the Unity Tour is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum. These brave men and women not only put their lives on the line for their communities every day, but select ones are biking over 200 miles down to our nation's capitol.

I've heard from officers who have participated that it is very emotional once they see the capitol.

The end of the tour is marked with a candlelight vigil in honor of those who died in the line of duty. Thousands of police officers and their families attend and pay tribute to their fallen brothers and sisters.

Many departments in our area are participating including Princeton Police Department. It's an amazing and challenging journey that all participants should be proud of doing!
