Even though this extension was approved for another year, most air travelers should still have the new ID by spring. Come the year 2020, frequent flyers that would like to use their drivers license at airports will be required to have the new and updated "Real ID".

Don't you worry Pennsylvanians, you all have an extension as well. You are you good to fly around the states using your regular ID until August 1st, 2019. Along with New Jersey and Pennsylvania, there are 12 others states that have the extension, making it 15 total states. All 50 states will have issued REAL ID's by October 1st, 2020.
