The Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project will lead to new closures in that area this week.

Route 29 southbound (beneath the bridge) in New Jersey will be closed overnight this week. The closures will last from 10 pm to 6 pm (the next morning).

The closures will last from Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10.

The alternate route, which is being suggested by officials, is to take Route 175/Upper River Road during the closures.

Of course, we're getting closer to the unfortunate day where tolls will be charged over the new bridge span. Tolls will be collected in the Pennsylvania-bound direction when the first completed (upstream) span of the new Scudder Falls Toll Bridge opens to traffic.

An all-electronic (AET) tolling system, also known as cashless tolling, will assess and collect tolls from motorists traveling at highway speeds via E-ZPass® or by license-plate billing (Toll-by-Plate invoices sent through the U.S. Mail to vehicle owners).

The new tolls are expected to open in July.
