Philly Comedian Chris Cotton Dies at Age 32
Philadelphia lost one of its own the other day. Local comedian Chris Cotton passed away at the age of 32. Cotton was born and raised in the Philly area and married his high school sweetheart EricaLynn in May 2011. The couple is expecting a baby in February of 2020.
Cotton is leaving behind a long list of accomplishments. Not only was he a stand up comedian, he was also a writer and a producer. One of his biggest endeavors was writing a producing the Comedy Central talk show called Every Damn Day. According to Billy Penn, he also performed in New York City’s Gotham City comedy club and many other places. But what the city loved him for is always coming back to his hometown and never forgetting where he came from.
According to Bill Penn, Cotton Cotton performed regularly at the Raven Lounge in Center City, a comedy stage he created with local comics Conrad Roth and H. Foley in 2007 to help provide a platform for comedians of color.
Cotton's cause of death is still unknown. However a GoFundMe has be set up to help his family. It has already raised tens f thousands of dollars thanks to fellow comedians such as Amy Schumer, Sal Vulcano, The Lucas Bros and Colin Quinn.
