Princeton, NJ Native Curtis Headed to the Beijing Winter Olympics
Planet Princeton is reporting that Princeton native, Kelly Curtis, is headed to Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympics. How exciting.
Curtis is a member of the U.S. women's skeleton racing team. The U.S. got two qualifying spots for the women's competition and one qualifying spot for the men's competition.
I have to be honest I didn't know what "skeleton" was. I'm sure I'm not alone, so I Googled it and found out it's a type of sledding. You go head first, and on your stomach (face down), on a flat sled. The event is typically run on a challenging ice track to gain speed. I can't wait to see the event.
Did you know he U.S. has more skeleton medals than any other country. Check out more facts about sport here. It's harder than you think.
This is Curtis's very first Olympic nomination. I'm sure her family is so proud of her. Curtis's father, John, is well known in the Princeton community, spending many years as the beloved Athletic Director of Princeton High School. Kelly attended Princeton High School and The Lawrenceville School. Her family has supported her working towards her Olympic dream for years. Check out where else she's competed here.
I love watching the Olympics, but, it's even more exciting to tune in when someone local is competing.
Good luck Kelly, 94.5 'PST is rooting for you....the entire community will be cheering you on. If you bring home a medal there should be a parade down Nassau Street. Wouldn't that be cool? Maybe I should ask the Mayor first. Lol.
Remember when Athing Mu won gold during the summer games? I do. Click here for details. The whole community was cheering her on...so exciting.
Go Team U.S.A.
The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics kick off Friday February 4th and go until Sunday, February 20th.
