The dean of Rider University has officially resigned! Cynthia Newman who used to be dean of the College of Business Administration at the school, has stepped down from her position after conflicting views with the University.

Recently, Rider University decided to block a Chick-Fil-a from coming to campus. This decision was partly due to the values and beliefs the corporation stand for. It is no secret that Chick-Fil-a is a christian based company. They don't open on Sunday because they want to allow their employees the opportunity to attend church.

When the idea of bringing this fast food restaurant to Rider, it was widely opposed across the administration due to "the company’s record widely perceived to be in opposition to the LGBTQ+ community." The school feels that Chick-Fil-a's values do not align with those of Rider, therefore do not want it on their campus.

When this statement was released, Newman made the decision to step down as dean. She claims that the words in the statement written by Rider about Chick-fil-a's values completely go against her faith and beliefs as a Christian.

“I felt like I had been punched in the stomach when I read that statement because I’m a very committed Christian,” Newman said in an interview. “Chick-fil-A’s corporate purpose statement is to glorify God, to be faithful stewards of all that’s entrusted to them and have a positive influence on everyone who comes into contact with them. And I would say that mirrors my personal beliefs perfectly."

Newman will stay with the school as a professor/
