R.I.P. to SEPTA paper transfers.

The greater Philadelphia transit system has made the switch to Key Cards as of yesterday (Aug 1, 2018) and will no longer be using paper transfers on buses, subways, and trolleys.

What does that mean for riders? You'll have to make the change to the SEPTA Key Card.

It might be a little hard to get used to if you don't like change, but overall it will make the flow of commuters' journeys, smoother.

A majority of riders have already made the switch to the Key Card when SEPTA launched the system in June 2016.

Now, for the part you've been reading for ... discounts!

If you use the Key Card with money loaded on Travel Wallet, a discount of a $1 transfer will be honored for eligible trips. For reduced fare travelers using the Key Card with money loaded on Travel Wallet, a half-fare of $.50 will be honored.

Happy riding!
