The ‘Trenton Makes’ Bridge Lights Up in Support of Ukraine
The Trenton Makes Bridge has been lit up in blue and yellow as our area shows support for the nation of Ukraine.
The Bridge will be lit up in blue and yellow from Friday, February 25 through Friday, March 4, 2022, in support of Ukraine, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission says. On Monday, February 28, however, the bridge will be lit up in recognition of Rare Disease Awareness Day.
The bridge’s sign has actually been around for more than 100 years. It’s been a cherished Mercer and Bucks County icon for years. Thousands upon thousands of travelers have enjoyed the bridge for years.
It was back in 2018, however, when officials upgraded the bridge’s lighting system. A programable LED lighting system was installed. The bridge can now be lit up for any number of occasions.
Occasions already on the schedule for 2022 include St. Patrick’s Day (green), Cinco de Mayo (red, white, and green), Pride (rainbow), Independence Day (red, white, and blue), Halloween (organ and brown), Christmas (red and green), and more. Click here to view a complete list of colors.
Plus, the Delaware River Bridge Commission actually allows requests for temporary color changes to be made on a specific date. If you’d like to request a color change, you need to submit a request here (on their website). The commission accepts lighting requests as far out as 12 months in advance. They must be received at least 30 days in advance of the requested date, however, officials say.
