If you’re a Broadway fan like me, it’s been painful to not be able to see live theater during the COVID-19 crisis, so I am happy to report that you’ll be able to view a filmed staging of Cats this weekend.

The filmed production, which was taped in 1998, will be available on the YouTube channel The Shows Must Go On for free for a limited time. It will be available beginning on Friday (May 15) at 2 pm ET for 48 hours.

The 1998 presentation stars Elaine Paige as Girzabella, Playbill.com reports. Other stars include Ken Page, who returned for the show after originating the role on Broadway. Other stars include John Mills, Bryn Walters, and Jacob Brent.

The YouTube channel The Shows Must Go On has been offering other shows like the Phantom of the Opera on YouTube since the COVID-19 pandemic shut broadway theaters back in March for the foreseeable future.

By the way, live theater is most fun with an audience, right? Playbill will host a live watch party of the musical on at 7 pm ET on Friday night (May 15).

Of course, Cats was turned into a feature film in 2019, which starred Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo, and Taylor Swift. The musical was one of the longest-running Broadway shows in history.
