BREAKING: Two Trapped in Row Home Fire in Philadelphia
Philadelphia firefighters are responding to a massive fire in South Philadelphia this afternoon, which has left at least two people trapped.
A fire broke out at least two row homes on the 1400 block on South 8th Street earlier this morning, NBC 10 reports. Television footage from networks like NBC10 and 6 ABC showed the thick smoke billowing into the air early Thursday afternoon. If you've seen heavy smoke in the area today this is the cause of it.
Officials tell NBC10 that they are trying to reach two victims, but the nature of any injuries was not immediately clear.
Eyewitnesses told 6ABC’s Jeff Chirico that an initial explosion sounded “like a bomb exploded.”
Chirico shared more footage from the scene on his Twitter account as well.
The Philadelphia Fire Department says that the fire is a three-alarm blaze with more than 50 apparatus and more than 120 members responding.
