Chipotle Might Be Coming to Hamilton, NJ After All

Chipotle might be coming to Hamilton Township after all...keyword being might.

Remember I told you last month that after two marathon Zoning Board meetings, plans to build a drive-thru Chipotle where the Lukoil gas station was on Whitehorse Mercerville Road and Route 33 were denied, well, it didn't seem as if the developers gave up.

Mercer Equities was supposed to be back in front of the Board tonight (April 12th), but, TAPinto Hamilton/Robbinsville is reporting that they asked for the matter to be taken off the meeting's agenda before the meeting started.

Hmmm...I'm not sure if they just postponed this meeting, needing more time to tweek their plans, or whether it's not happening at all anymore. We'll see.

Some nearby residents were happy the plans were rejected due to traffic concerns and some were disappointed because they feel a Chipotle would be a welcomed addition in town.

Mercer Equities had proposed the new fast food restaurant to have a drive thru, digital pick up zone, and an outdoor seating area. The plans also included 17 parking spaces so you can go inside to get your food.

If the plans eventually go through this would be the first Chipotle in Hamilton Township, but, not the first in Mercer County. Other area locations include Lawrence Township (in Mercer Mall), West Windsor (near Trader Joes), and a brand new location just opened a few weeks ago in East Windsor (on Route 130 North in the Shop Rite shopping center).
