Thrifting is one of my favorite past times. I know a lot of people who turn their nose up at the thought of wearing hand-me-downs or anything used. However, there are some hidden gems at thrift stores that would usually cost a fortune.

My mom has taken me to thrift stores since I was young. So still to this day as an adult, I find myself hitting up Plato's Closet, or local consignment stores for random statement pieces. The outfits that you can put together from a thrift store are endless. And nine times out of ten, people will ask you what retail store you got it from.

I also realized that you find different types of clothing depending on where the thrift store is located. If you go thrifting in the city you might find more clothes that match a city vibe like expensive boots, Jordans, Yeezys, LV, Hermes, and Doc Martins. Whereas if you are shopping in a town like Bensalem you might find more flannels and carpenter jeans.

There is a thread on Reddit where residents are naming their favorite thrift stores in Philly. Some places that were thrown out there AIDS Thrift on South 5th street, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and Second Mile at 214 S 45th St.

My personal favorite is the Goodwill in Lansdowne on Baltimore Pike. Every time i go down there to visit my boyfriend, I stop by there and pick something up. they have great household items and my whole house has been decorated with donated things at this point.
