According to NorthJersey.com, both Jersey and New York is battling a emerging case of fungus infections. The Federal Health authorities have identified over 400 cases over the past few years. It is apparently getting to be so bad, that they're calling it "a serious global health threat."

two thirds of all the cases reported over the years in the United States have been from either Jersey or New York. And the type of fungus we're dealing with is the kind that is very difficult to treat. It is called Candida auris, also referred to as C. auris, and it is resistant to most anti-fungal medicines. The scary thing is, in a lot of cases the fungus was found in hospitals or nursing homes. Consequently it led to many patients' immune systems becoming weak. There have even been a few deaths.

Experts are working hard with communities to address this problem.
