School fundraisers usually involve selling candles, canisters of popcorn, and other small gifts, but according to NJ.com, Steinert High School in Hamilton, NJ has scheduled a mattress sale to help raise money for the school's choir group.

The mattress sale will happen in Steinert's gymnasium on Saturday, April 6 and while this concept may seem unusual, it is actually one of the newest ways that schools are raising funds.

Custom Fundraising Solutions is a company that partners with schools to do these sales.  According to CFS's website, the "mattress sale" concept goes back to 2005.  The company now has 70 locations throughout the US and has helped raise $40 million dollars for schools and communities.

Joe Matejka, the President CEO of CFS, explains the concept in this video:

CFS sells all sizes of mattresses in pillow top, firm, and plush from brands like Beautyrest, Simmons, Therapedic and more.  NJ.com says that consumers will find deals "up to 50 percent off during the one-day sale, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m."
