Taco Tuesday won't be the same if you enjoyed going to Surf Taco in the Princeton Shopping Center. The restaurant is closed for good.

Although the location is still on the company's website, I was told the news was in a private Princeton community Facebook group, and I'm sad. I loved going there when the weather was nice because of its open air style. My children and I would sit at the counter-style seating when the windows and doors were all open and look out at the pretty, grassy area of the shopping center and people-watch....and the tacos were amazing.

I remember how excited everyone in the area was when word got out that this Jersey Shore hot spot (the shore area, not the MTV show) was opening in Princeton. I first went to Surf Taco in Point Pleasant (the original location) and the line is always out the door. The Belmar location is always packed too. It's sooo good. Check out the other locations here.

I don't know the reason for the closure. Was Princeton the right spot for this popular beach town eatery? Maybe business had slowed since opening a few years ago in 2018 (it was never busy when I stopped in), or, maybe they were short staffed to the point where it wasn't operational. Whatever the reason, I'll miss it.

In other Princeton Shopping Center news, a new Spanish street food eatery is opening soon next to Cross Culture, where Pho Spot used to be, called Mi Espana. It will have a food truck feel. I can't wait to try it out. It's the creation of the Gretalia Hospitality Group, which also owns all the PJ's Pancake House restaurants in the area, so it's got to be fantastic.
