Wawa's Data Breach in 2019 Affected Millions of Customers
From April 2019 through December 2019, Wawa says that cybercriminals hacked into their point-of-sale systems to steal payment card information. That information was listed for sale on the "dark web."
The data breach lasted for nine months and hackers tried to sell stolen customer payment card data on the “dark web.”
Wawa announced that the data breach had taken place on December 19. The company was hit with a TON of lawsuits, which led to a class-action lawsuit.

A Settlement Has Been Reached
A federal judge has signed off on the final settlement for customers who were affected by the data breach. The news broke on Thursday (April 21).

Here's How To Claim Your Wawa Gift Card If You Were Affected By the Data Breach
Customers will get one of three payouts as part of the final settlement. Wawa has also agreed to pay $35 million to upgrade its security systems.
Here's how to know how much you'll get, down below, we have instructions on how to claim your cards:
Customers who used their debit cards at Wawa during the breach and said they "spent time" monitoring their credit will receive a $5 gift card.
If you had a fraudulent charge on your card during the data breach period, you will get a $10 Wawa gift card.
Customers who can demonstrate certain expenditures or other out-of-pocket loses during the breach, will be eligible to get $500 in cash from Wawa.
How Do You Claim and Collect Your Gift Card or Cash From Wawa
Unfortunately, the deadline to file a claim was November 29, 2021, for customers who fall into any of those categories listed above.
