It seems that every time I am driving from job to job, I notice a dead deer on the side of the road. It's so sad! It's currently deer mating season, so there are a lot of deer on the roads.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation put together a list of 13 counties where the most dead deer are picked up, and some of them are right here in our area.
#12 is Burlington County, where 155 dead deer were picked up.
#6 is Middlesex County, where 482 dead deer were picked up.
#5 is Mercer County, where 539 dead deer were picked up.
The Department of Transportation wants to be on the lookout if you live in these 13 counties. Let's use this to our advantage so we don't damage our cars and add more deer carcasses to the sides of our roads.
Considering there are only 21 counties in New Jersey and the D.O.T. has highlighted 13 of them, they are telling us what we already know, New Jersey is swarming with deer.
