On and around Halloween, lots of people like to scare themselves by watching horror movies.

Britannica.com says the horror movie genre goes all the way back to the early 1900's.  And in the 1930's, a series of incredibly popular horror movies were released - Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Mummy, just to name a few.

According to forbes.com, IT is the highest-grossing horror movie of all-time, followed by The Sixth Sense, Jaws, Ghostbusters, and The Exorcist.

Comparitech.com just released the results of a study they did to determine the most popular movies in each of the 50 states.  Here's how the website described their methodology...

"Using IMDB’s list of top horror movies, we searched each film individually on Google Trends to find which state scored the highest. This was then the designated film for that state."

Using that criteria, Comparitech determined that the most popular horror movie in New Jersey is IT: Chapter Two, which is actually still playing in theaters.  So, if you're up for a good scare tonight, maybe IT: Chapter Two is the movie for you.
