Locals were surprised to notice that the Burger King in Penndel (Bucks County), Pa seemed to abruptly shut the doors earlier this week.

Driving by the location, located at 121 W. Lincoln Highway, we noticed that the windows of the fast food restaurant are boarded up and their exterior signs appear to have been removed.

A printed sign place on one of the doors says the restaurant is “closed for maintenance,” but franchise officials have confirmed that the restaurant has permanently closed.

“We’re not reopening ... business was slow,” Frank Myers, a district manager for Family Dining Inc., which owns the franchise told the Bucks County Courier Times on Wednesday.

WPST also reached out to Burger King’s corporate office for an official statement, but as of Wednesday evening, we haven’t heard back.

The restaurant would have actually celebrated its 40th anniversary next week, according to a report from the Bucks County Courier Times.
