WOW Air suddenly ceased operations overnight Wednesday, and they've canceled all flights (including departures out Newark). Thousands of passengers were stranded today -- some of whom were likely waiting for a return flight home from wherever they were visiting, according to a report from CNN.

The airline completely stopped operating overnight without warning and if you just so happen to have a flight booked with them your life is about to get messy.

Yes ... so that means your future flight is canceled, and the discount airline now urges you to find flights elsewhere.

How annoying is that?

I'd be so frustrated because I know when I plan my trips everything is to the T. Timing, dates and all.

Check out the airline's statement here.

Get this, one line in WOW Air's statement says, "Passengers whose ticket was paid with a credit card are advised to contact their credit card company to check whether a refund of the ticket cost will be issued."

Ummm ... so after they cancel your flight it's not 100% guaranteed they you will receive a refund. Shouldn't that be illegal?

The Iceland based airline also mentioned bankruptcy. So there may be a way you can contact the liquidator if you're thinking about filing a claim if WOW Air moves forward with the bankruptcy.
