Here's an important reminder --- always check your lottery tickets.  According to nj.com, Bruce Schaffer of Marlton, NJ purchased a Mega Millions ticket in July when the jackpot was over $500 million.  After the drawing, he heard that the winning ticket was sold in California, so he never checked his numbers.

Five days later, he pulled the ticket out of his wallet and discovered he had matched 5 of the 6 winning numbers, which made the ticket worth $1 million.

The only number Schaffer didn't match was the Mega Ball.  Now, don't get me wrong, winning a million dollars would be amazing, but knowing that I was just one number away from possibly winning $500 million might drive me crazy.  How about you?
