Former Atlantic Club in Atlantic City, NJ, to get a makeover
The former Atlantic Club has been shuttered since 2014, but could finally be getting a fresh makeover.
Back in 2019, the property was sold to Colesseo Development Group Atlantic City, who now has plans to redevelop the property with two hotel towers that will feature residential condominiums, restaurants, a retail mall and more. While there will be no casino, the new property will have shopping on the site of the old casino floor, various food outlets and even a place for weddings.
There is a lot of work to be done after years of neglect on the shuttered building, which hasn't been operational since its closure.
"We had the plan to go in a modernize the furniture and the fixtures. But when we got in there, the systems didn't work. It was really, really bad."
Various reports indicate that the building is in much worse condition that anticipated, with some of the structure falling into the streets and on to the boardwalk. The inside of the building is said to be damaged by water, bringing mold issues to the building.
The reports say there will be more than 130 condos, with most of the condos featuring 360-views of the city, the beaches, ocean and boardwalk.
I was there on January 13, 2014, the final day of the Atlantic Club, and would love to be back in the building with something new and exciting for Atlantic City.
