It seems as if the once popular Ground Round Grill and Bar, near Oxford Valley Mall, has closed its doors for good, according to Levittown Now.

After almost 10 years, the article states that the location has been taken off the corporate website, the phone has been disconnected, and the property around the restaurant as not been cared for.

Many thought it would reopen as some of the coronavirus dining restrictions have been lifted in Bucks County, but, no such luck. The two restaurants near Ground Round, TGI Friday’s and Bertucci’s Brick Oven Pizza and Pasta have both reopened.

I was bummed to hear this news. Most of us have been to a Ground Round at least once in our lives. There used to be two locations in Mercer County. Who remembers the one near Quaker Bridge Mall?  It was right across from the DMV on Route 1 South, where the old Joe's Crab Shack is. The other local location was on Olden Avenue in Ewing. Ground Round was the best when we were younger. My sister & I would play the video games and pinball machines until our dinner arrived. The waiter and waitress usually knew some kind of magic trick, and you got unlimited, free popcorn at your table. I'm sure your mother told you to stop eating so much popcorn because you were going to spoil your dinner, like our mom did. If I remember correctly, they had a promotion for kids..."Pay What You Weigh," right?

Ground Round is a dying breed. There are only 15 locations still in existence around the country, none around here anymore. The chain has been in business since 1969.
