Hamilton Township Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who they believe tried to lure a girl into a car last night (Saturday, July 20).

Police say that the suspect followed a 12-year-old girl walking on Christine Avenue (between Steinert and Wegner Avenue) around 8:15 pm on Saturday.

They say the man was driving a black, four-door vehicle (believed to be a 2008 or 2009 Ford Fusion). He exited the car and tried to approach a 12-year-old girl.

The man tried to speak to the girl several times after he got out of his car, according to police. Officials say the girl called her parents on a cell phone, and the man quickly fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a “tall man” with a “deep voice,” and they say he has an athletic build. He’s believed to be between 25 and 30 years old. He stands between 5'11" and 6'2" feet tall. Officials say that the suspect had a freshly trimmed short beard and he was wearing a black baseball hat, black shirt, black jeans, and they say he was wearing black shoes.
