New Jersey has now become the second state to pass a law which requires schools to teach about LGBT history. California is the first state that has this particular law.

Governor Murphy signed the law, which he feels is a, “Step forward to fairness and inclusion.”

Under the new legislation, all New Jersey schools will be required to give lessons on different topics in regards to the LGBT community. Topics will include social contribution politics, etc.

"It's critical that our classrooms highlight the achievements of LGBTQ people throughout history," Governor Murphy tells Patch.com

Murphy is making sure that everyone is taken care of, from raising minimum wage to now making sure everyone is recognized for their contribution to our country: "We honor contributions of people of color, women, and immigrants, LGBTQ people deserve a place in our history books," via patch.com. 

A source tells 6ABC that the law will be in effect at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
