Gov. Phil Murphy signed legislation to raise New Jersey minimum wage Tuesday morning. So, what does this mean for you?

This pay boost of $15/hour is set to gradually increase over a five year time span.

The first large hourly increase set to to go into effect from $8.85/hour to $10/hour starting July 1st.

Here is the rest of the breakdown:

$11 on Jan. 1, 2020,
$12 on Jan. 1, 2021,
$13 on Jan. 1., 2022,
$14 on Jan. 1, 2023
$15 on Jan. 1, 2024.

Overall the goal is to be fair to all NJ workers. According to NJ.com, the minimum wage increase will benefit more then 1 million workers

Of course there are some exception to the increased pay. Here are how different parties will be effected:

Teen Workers - They'll get the minimum wage hike along with most other workers.

Seasonal Workers - Employees at seasonal businesses will reach $15 an hour in 2026.

Small Business Employees - Small business employees will reach $15 an hour as seasonal workers.

Agricultural Workers - Farm workers are the only workers who aren’t guaranteed to hit $15 an hour under this new law. Their minimum wage will rise to $12.50 by 2024.

Tipped Workers - Tipped workers such as bartenders and waitresses will have a minimum wage increase from $2.13 an hour to $5.13.
