What You Need To Know About The NJ $15 Minimum Wage Increase
Gov. Phil Murphy signed legislation to raise New Jersey minimum wage Tuesday morning. So, what does this mean for you?
This pay boost of $15/hour is set to gradually increase over a five year time span.
The first large hourly increase set to to go into effect from $8.85/hour to $10/hour starting July 1st.
Here is the rest of the breakdown:
- $11 on Jan. 1, 2020,
- $12 on Jan. 1, 2021,
- $13 on Jan. 1., 2022,
- $14 on Jan. 1, 2023
- $15 on Jan. 1, 2024.
Overall the goal is to be fair to all NJ workers. According to NJ.com, the minimum wage increase will benefit more then 1 million workers
