The body of a 31-year-old Trenton man was discovered lying on Interstate 295 in Bensalem (Bucks County) in the early hours of Sunday morning, and officials say the man was shot.

The incident was first reported by a motorist who reported a possible car accident on the Eastbound side of the roadway (near the Ford Road overpass).

Police tell 6ABC that they did not locate a vehicle when they arrived on the scene Sunday morning.

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Joshua McRae of Trenton. Pennsylvania State Police tell local media that McRaw was fatally shot.

An investigation into the murder is ongoing at this time. Anyone with information on McRae's whereabouts prior to the shooting is asked to contact the state police's Criminal Investigations Unit at the Trevose station.

The roadway was closed for an investigation until about 7:30 am on Sunday, NBC10 reported.
