Two New Attractions at the Cape May County, NJ Zoo this Summer
The Cape May County Zoo is a popular destination for a family-friendly day out and this summer they have two new attractions for visitors to enjoy.
Since its opening in 1978, the Cape May County Zoo has been a popular destination for everyone to enjoy at no cost, thanks to continued donations over the years. Located off Route Nine just north of Cape May Court House and easily reached from the Garden State Parkway via Exit 11, the Park and Zoo is a place full of memories for locals and vacationers to Cape May County. This Summer, the Cape May County Zoo and Park has two new attractions for you to enjoy.
Before July 4th Weekend, The Cape May County Zoo announced the arrival of two new animals that are joining the South American exhibit: Two female Greater Rhea will be living alongside the Capybaras. According to Associate Veterinarian at the Cape May County Zoo Dr. Alexander Ernst, the Greater Rheas are about a year old and are coming to the Zoo from Six Flags Great Adventure.
Cape May County Commissioner Andrew Bulakowski, who is the liaison to the Cape May County Parks and Zoo, said the following in a press release:
“The continued growth of our Zoo family is exciting for the staff and visitors and adds to the educational experience for people of all ages. I encourage everyone to make a trip to the Zoo as often as possible to see how it changes and becomes better each time you go. The Greater Rheas are just two of the new arrivals this year. I can’t say enough about the hard work and dedication the staff does every day to make our Parks and Zoo the best in the State and beyond. Without them, we would not have the opportunity to receive new animals and expand our offerings”.
The other new attraction for visitors to the Cape May County Park and Zoo for the months of July and August is the 2023 Concert in the Park Series. There will be afternoon concerts for visitors of all ages to enjoy as part of their day at the Park and Zoo. Visitors are invited to bring chairs and blankets to set up in front of the bandstand which is located to the right of the zoo's main entrance with each concert performance on stage from 2 pm to 3 pm. Here is the current schedule of performers:
