I didn't even realize Margate had a boardwalk at one time, I just know Margate because of my family's visits to Lucy the Elephant when I was growing up, but, according to NJ.com, they did. Storms washed it away back in the 1940s, and now they want it back. A group of residents are planning a rally for Sunday night to make others aware of what's going and get enough signatures to get it on the ballet as a referendum this fall.  Now, from what I read this isn't going to be a baordwalk like Wildwood or neighboring Ocean City...no amusement rides...it's going to be non-commercial. It'll have rest areas and pavilions...sounds nice. It'll be better for joggers and bikers too....they can get off the road. I'm rooting for you, Margate. I hope you get your boardwalk back. I'll visit soon, when I take my yearly trip to see Lucy.
