Where You Get Free Donuts for National Donut Day

In case you hadn't heard, it's National Donut Day (Friday, June 7th). To celebrate, there are a bunch of local places where you can get a free one today.

I don't really remember hearing much about this day before, but, Jersey's Best says it's been going on since the 1930s, on the first Friday of June. It started in 1938 "to recognize the “Salvation Army Lassies” who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I as a means to boost morale." Wow...interesting.

Here's the list of where you can get a free one today.

At Ducks Donuts, you can get one free classic donut (only bare, cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar). No purchase necessary. There are NJ locations in Middletown, Clark, and Green Brook.

At Dunkin' Donuts, you get one free donut with any beverage purchase. There are Dunkin' Donuts everywhere.

At Krispy Kreme, you get one free donut of any kind. No purchase necessary, just walk in. There's a Krispy Kreme in Bensalem, PA, and Collingswood, NJ.

Walmart is giving away over a million donuts. Just go to the bakery section of any Walmart Supercenter to get a free glazed donut. Stop in or call your local Walmart to see if they are participating.

Plus, I saw on Facebook this morning, that you can get a free donut, when you buy a large coffee, at Italian Peoples Bakery & Deli.

Plus, if you're in Philly, you can get a free cannoli donut there today on Frankford Ave. in NE Philly.
