I'm a Jersey girl and like any other Jersey girl, I love the beach! Nothing is worse than when you're sitting on the beach and I smell someone's cigarette. Not only can I not stand the smell of cigarettes, but I also have allergies and the smoke makes me sneeze like crazy! This new law that Governor Phil Murphy will pass today, will help all of us breathe a little easier while we're enjoying the Jersey Shore.

Governor Phil Murphy will sign a bill today that will ban smoking at all public beaches and parks in New Jersey. Violators will pay a $250 fine for the first offense, $500 for the second offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense. Wow!

With this new law, the Governor's office hopes to not just make our beaches and parks more enjoyable, but to also cut back on the amount of litter that comes along with smoking. Clean Ocean Action, which collected 29,000 cigarette butts along the Atlantic Coast in 2017. That's insane!

So if you're a smoker, you can go to the beach, but you better find a place to smoke, cuz if not, you'll pay!
