If you're a fan of The Walking Dead on AMC, I know what's going through your head right now....ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE IS COMING! But, it may not be that serious, but there is still a "zombie like" virus affecting deer in multiple states in the country and it may make its way to New Jersey.

Deer in 26 states have been documented as having the chronic wasting disease including New York and Pennsylvania. No deer in New Jersey have been documented yet, but being that it's been documented in both states that boarder us, people are starting to worry. Once they read what chronic wasting disease is, that also gets them worried. It's a disease that is leaving the deer looking very 'zombie like' with holes in their brains and extremely thin bodies before they die. Yes, it sounds freaky! However, the good news is, humans CANNOT contract it from deer.

The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife are hoping to put a ban on hunters bringing back dead deer carcasses from hunters will not bring back any deer from other states. This would be a way to control the spread of the chronic wasting disease among Jersey deer.

My concern is, what if people eat venison and the deer had the chronic wasting disease?  The New Jersey’s Bureau of Wildlife Management says that deer can have the disease two years before they show symptoms. So is this a way that it can spread to humans? This is the stuff that keeps me up at night! All jokes aside, if you see a deer that looks like something out of an episode of The Walking Dead, I would call the authorities and let them know!
