Miracles happen in all shapes and sizes.  Just this Sunday, a 6-year-old girl saved her family from a house fire when she was the only one to awake to the blaze.

Early Sunday morning, Madalyn Karlbon, awoke to smoke burning her eyes and throat and the fire alarm around 2:17 a.m.  Going downstairs, Karlbon was not able to wake up her mother asleep and ran upstairs.  She proceeded to alert her father, consequentially saving her mother and younger 2-year-old brother as well.

The Karlbon home, in Avenel, New Jersey, was deemed uninhabitable due to the fire’s damage.  The family is staying in a hotel for the time being. The Avenel Fire Department expressed their thanks and pride for the young hero in a Facebook post.

The Avenel Fire Company has stated they are accepting donations for the family, including clothing, toys and toiletries.  The firehouse is located at 346 Avenel St.
