Important traffic information for the West Windsor and Princeton area:

The heavily traveled Alexander Road Bridge (which crosses over Stony Brook) in Princeton (close to the West Windsor border) has been closed effective immediately to all traffic.

The Township of Princeton says that the bridge was inspected by the Mercer County Department of Transportation on Monday (April 8), and it was found that the bridge is in need of emergency structural repairs.

This full closure will last for "approximately 10 days, weather permitting," according to officials with Mercer County.

Mercer County's Facebook page says this is a "full closure for approximately 10 days, weather permitting."

It looks like you'll have to find an alternate route.

The detour they've set up will reroute you to either Washington Road -- off Route 1 in West Windsor or Faculty Road in Princeton.

Patch listed other alternate routes for getting to Route 1 including Quaker Road, Province Line Road, and Harrison Street.

By the way, New Jersey Transit has been notified to reroute their buses as well.

Officials are asking everyone to obey all of the temporary traffic signs, follow the detour, and please use caution in the affected area.
