Holiday Food Drive for Pets Providing Support to Mercer County’s Meals on Wheels Participants
A food drive, inspired by Jordyn's Cause 4 Paws, will be taking place to support Mercer County's Meals on Wheels participants in caring for their pets.
The 2018 holiday pet food drive is a collaboration between Meals on Wheels of Mercer County, Cooper Creative Group and Stony Brook Gardens.
Donors are encouraged to drop off pet food to Stony Brook Gardens in Pennington from November 23 through Christmas Eve.
Meals on Wheels has been partnering with Jordyn's Cause 4 Paws to feed the pets of their homebound participants.
The drive was started by Jordyn Cascone as a project for her girl scouts silver award. It has become a non-profit organization that provides pet food for the animals of the homebound. Jordyn explains that she had the idea for the fundraiser because she found that many Meals on Wheels participants were giving their food to their pets because they couldn’t afford pet food.
Meals on Wheels was able to distribute approximately 10,000 pounds of pet food to feed around 40 pets per week this year, Sasa Olessi Montaño, the CEO of Meals on Wheels of Mercer County (MOWMC), told MercerMe.com.
The following items are requested. Please note the size of the items listed below as volunteers who deliver the food need to handle the bags easily:
