Infamous Pennsylvania Asylum To Be Featured on A&E Special
According to patch.com, Pennhurst Asylum, located in Chester County PA's Spring City (about an hour from Bensalem) will be featured in a TV special that will debut on Oct. 30 at 8pm on A&E.
A&E says the 2-hour special, "World's Biggest Ghost Hunt: Pennhurst Asylum," is "the longest continuously filmed paranormal investigation in television history."
According to weirdnj.com, Pennhurst Asylum, which opened in 1908, housed "mentally and physically handicapped...immigrants, criminals and orphans who could not be housed elsewhere." The asylum was said to be overcrowded for most of the time it was opened.
Pennhurst closed in 1987 and is now one of Pennsylvania's most popular haunted attractions. There are currently 4 attractions at Pennhurst - the Asylum, Mayflower After Dark, Containment, and The Morgue. The attractions are open on select dates now through Nov. 3. Click here for more info.
The A&E special won't be the first time that Pennhurst has been the setting and/or topic of an investigation.
