Lawrence Police Officer, Bartosz Chojnowski, is being credited by Planet Princeton with saving the life of a 4-year-old little girl from Hopewell.

Every parent's worst nightmare was coming true for Maria Wimmers. While driving on Carson Road in Lawrence, her 4 year old daughter starting choking in the backseat on a piece of candy, and wasn't breathing. The mother quickly pulled over, jumped out of her car, visibly upset, to attempt to help her child.

Luckily, Officer Chojnowski was working a special duty road job nearby, saw Wimmers was upset, and rushed over to see if he could help. She told him the child was choking and he sprung into action. Planet Princeton says he removed the child from the car and immediately "began performing life-saving measures to dislodge the candy."

Thankfully, it worked, He dislodged the candy, and the child began breathing again. Wow. I can't even began to imagine how that mother was felt. Horrifying.

The Wimmers visited the Lawrence Township Police Department yesterday to say thank you to the officer for saving the child's life.

Officer Chojnowski is being praised on the Township of Lawrence Facebook page with Lawrence Police Chief, Brian Caloiaro, commenting, "Great job, Bartosz. We are very proud of you."

Thank you for all you did, Officer Chojnowski, you're a hero.
