UPDATE: Suspect in Custody After Escaping Trenton Psychiatric Hospital

Police have apprehended a man who escaped the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital earlier on Thursday.

Ewing police said that Kevin Ennals left the facility without permission earlier in the day. He hopped a fence, according to authorities who had warned the public about his violent history.

If you’ve heard a lot of helicopters overheard or seen some police activity in the West Trenton area, this is likely why.

Reporting from our sister station, NJ101.5, says that Ennals' criminal record includes a 2012 arrest on charges of stabbing a woman in a New Brunswick park.

That came a year after getting sentenced to probation for convictions of burglary and aggravated assault on a cop, according to court records.
