Forget shopping on Black Friday. The Mercer County Park Commission and REI want you to once again #OptOutside this year, according to Princeton Online.

So, what does that mean?  On Black Friday, November 29th, from 10am - 3pm, unplug from your online shopping or whatever you're doing and go outside and get some fresh air, and Mercer County's a great place to do it.

Mercer County has beautiful parks and lot of fun things to do in them. Hey, you can work off some of the feast you had the day before on Thanksgiving. Lol.

The Mercer County Park Commission and REI (have you visited their cool, outdoorsy store in Mercer Mall?) have planned some activities for you. You can go on a scavenger hunt in a couple of the parks, like Roebling Park and Mercer Meadows . It's a "Choose Your Own Adventure" thing. You have to pick up your passport at either the Tulpehaking Nature Center in Hamilton or the Historic Hunt Barn in Pennington, then go search the paths at Roebling Park or Mercer Meadows. There are prizes from REI for the winners. Don't worry, the hunts are designed for families of all different fitness levels.

If you're looking for something a little more challenging, you can check out Baldpate Mountain in Titusville, and do some hiking...they're holding a 5-mile hiking challenge at 10am. There will be maps available.

All the fun is free and open to everyone.
