With the weather starting to warm up - although it hasn't really been cold this winter - many thoughts may veer towards some spring-time golf.
South Jersey is ripe with scores of great golf courses, both public and private. Many of these course will be full this summer - full of local golfers and vacationers alike.
A big honor has been bestowed on one local golf course: Golf Digest Magazine has named The Union League National Golf Club the 2nd Best New Private Golf Course in the USA.
Maybe right now you're thinking, "Union League? Never heard of it!"
Well, I hadn't either until I came across the article and realized this course is the former Sand Barrens Golf Course in Swainton!
Sand Barrens was sold and was recently extensively renovated.
The renovation took place last year on the 27 hole course. According to The Union League, the course features three different nine hole layouts that "provide a balance of fun and challenge with stunning views on every hole. This is a golf experience you will not soon forget."
The course is now private and part of The Union League of Philadelphia.
In addition to golf, the Swainton club also hosts weddings and other events.
I'd love to hear if you've played the new course yet and what you thought!
Let's play 18!
