We are just a few weeks out from Groundhog Day. February 2nd is said to be the day that the groundhog will come out of its hole at the end of  its hibernation. Legend says that if the groundhog sees his shadow, that means six more weeks of winter for us. To celebrate this day Haddon Township plans on holding a Groundhog Day festival. They have everything set and in place for the festival except the main thing. The groundhog.

The town couldn't get a real groundhog so instead they will be using a stuffed animal According to NJ.com, there will also be a human mascot in a groundhog costume. The plan is for the attendees to vote on whether or not the stuffed animal "sees its shadow."

“We’re going to do a costume and trivia contest and be on Instagram all day,” said Kate Burns, the township official planning the event. “We were looking for a goofy, crazy event that nobody else does.

So come on out to the festival on Feb. 1st. there will be bands, fire pits, a beer garden and more!
