Each year, USA Today posts a list of retailers that are in danger of filing for bankruptcy or closing stores (or both).

The list for 2020 includes several stores with locations in our area.

  • JCPenney - JCP has been closing store locations for years now, but they continue to operate in several local malls, including Quakerbridge Mall, Oxford Valley Mall, and Cherry Hill Mall.
  • Rite Aid - Last September, we reported that over 100 Rite Aid stores would be changing to Walgreens, including a couple of locations in Mercer County.
  • J. Crew - When you go to jcrew.com, you have to scroll to the bottom of the site to locate the "Find a store" tab, so it probably shouldn't come as a big surprise that the company would be closing some of its traditional stores.  They currently have a location at Palmer Square in Princeton.
  • David's Bridal - Brides-To-Be will definitely miss this popular retailer if any local stores close.  They currently have locations in Lawrenceville and Maple Shade, NJ and Bensalem, PA.
