Princeton, New Jersey is the home of Princeton University and some of the coolest shops, bars, and restaurants in the area. Whether you're planning a quick trip, a night out or you're new to Princeton here are some local favorites to visit while you're in town.

For the best breakfast and brunch go to PJ's Pancake House

Heads up: you may want to get there a little early because there's usually a line to get in because the breakfast and the pancakes are that good! If it's nice out, you could also eat outside and watch the world go by on Nassau Street.

While you're there you may notice that the tables looked they have been vandalized, but it's actually a fun tradition at this Princeton pancake house. You can carve your name into the table. I have yet to leave my mark there, but I have left with a full stomach.

For the best Princeton pizza go to Conte's.

I have lived the area my whole life, but I never knew about Conte's until I started working closer to Princeton. My co-workers took there me for lunch a few years ago and now I understand why it's always crowded. What makes the pizza standout is its crispy crunchy thin crust!

If hoagies are more your thing when you're hungry, then you need to head on over to Hoagie Haven.

They have tons of hoagies to choose from, but you also need to try their famous Sanchez Sauce. It's described as being a mix between hot sauce and creamy honey mustard.

If you're looking for a fun bar atmosphere and great food then head on over to Triumph Brewing Company or to the Yankee Doodle Taproom

Triumph offers a great craft beer selection, great food menu, and a cool ambiance.

The Yankee Doodle Tap Room is Princeton's gastropub with tons of craft beers, food, and cool pieces of history.

If you go there to grab a bite to eat or a drink, you may run into some famous Princetonians in the tap room. If you look through all the alumni photos on the wall you may notice Michelle Obama's class photo smiling back at you.

If you get lucky, you might get seated at the wooden booth that Albert Einstein carved his name into.

If you want a nice place to meet friends for a cup of coffee then you need to go to Small World Coffee.

On a nice day, you can enjoy your coffee or drink of choice on the Princeton Parklet too.

If you're in the mood for some sweet treats then your sweet tooth will become a big fan of House Of Cupcakes and Thomas Sweet.

House Of Cupcakes has a lot to brag about about. Not only do they have over 35 different varieties of cupcakes to choose from, they also are winners of Food Network's "Cupcake Wars."

If you want chocolate and ice cream then Thomas Sweet will help you satisfy that craving. They have a little bit of everything.

Even grab a box of chocolates to go.

Princeton has so much to offer that I could easily go on and on with great recommendations. Hope this list was helpful!
