Wednesday morning, there were widespread power outages in the Newtown, PA area.

Thousands were left without power in Bucks County in the vaccinates of Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, and Northampton.

About 2,600 residents were hit with the blackout and about 1,300 were affected by the outage. PECO confirmed that, "All but 800 customers had their power restored by 10 a.m.," according to patch.com.

The areas where the outage impacted the most ranged from Swamp Road to the Newtown Bypass.

PECO confirmed that the outages were caused by downed wires but officials are still investigating.

Patch.com reported that, "Jim Bampfield, the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator in nearby Middletown Township, tweeted Wednesday morning that high tension lines were down in that municipality."

By now all power should be restored.
