Forbes Says This Is Mercer County’s Richest Person
Forbes has released its list of the richest people in the world and while many people are talking about the youngest billionaire on the list, Kylie Jenner, there is also a Mercer County resident on the list.
Forbes says Duncan MacMillan of Princeton has a net worth of $1.1 billion. MacMillan graduated from Rutgers University in 1966 and according to Rutgers website, he co-founded Bloomberg LP in 1982. The site says MacMillan "designed many of the computer systems by which the Bloomberg company disseminates information and communicates critical data."
According to a page dedicated to MacMillan on Forbes.com, the 81-year old is married and has 2 children. They say he is an "an active philanthropist, (who) has signed the Giving Pledge, a promise to give at least half of his fortune to charitable causes."
On the Giving Pledge website, MacMillan and his wife, Nancy, are quoted with saying, "We very much believe that the accumulation of wealth gets us nowhere. Money has the most value when it's used for others and the greater good, for sustaining and enriching our world. In our minds, foundational areas like education and health are the most critical.”
