Accidents Clog Route 1 in West Windsor & I-195 in Hamilton
It’s been a rough traffic morning out there, and it’s gotten even worse. In addition to this morning’s severe backups on Route 1 Southbound, we’ve now learned about backups in West Windsor and Hamilton Township that are causing serious delays.
ROUTE 1 IN WEST WINDSOR
The West Windsor Police Department is reporting that multiple minor accidents have been reported in the area of Washington Road.
Police officials say the accidents are happening in the area of Washington Road, and they warn motorists to “expect heavy delays” as of 9:30 am on Tuesday.
I-195 in HAMILTON
An overturned dump truck in the left lane of the westbound side of the highway (near Exit 3 for Hamilton Square Road) has caused serious delays. The northbound side of the highway is jammed from Exit 5 (US 130).
Additionally, I-195 eastbound is delayed between Exit 2 (Broad Street and Arena Drive) and Exit 3 (Hamilton Square Road).
ROUTE 1 SOUTHBOUND IN LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP
Plus, as we’ve told you all morning, an overnight gas leak in Lawrence Township has caused serious delays in the area of the Quaker Bridge Mall on Route 1.
As of 10:00 am on Tuesday, Lawrence Township Police were urging motorists to avoid Route 1 Southbound between Quakerbridge Road and I-295 as emergency construction is still knocking out two lanes in the area.
