The Deborah Hospital Foundation will hold a screening for sudden cardiac arrest for students between the ages of 12 and 19 on Sunday, October 20 from 9 am until 12 pm.

Sudden cardiac arrest occurs suddenly and often without warning. Electrical problems in the heart cause a dangerously fast heart rate that interrupts blood flow, and the heart cannot pump blood to the body's vital organs. If it is not treated immediately, it can lead to sudden cardiac death within minutes.

Unfortunately, young athletes are more than twice as likely to experience SCD than non-athletes.

However, screenings can help make young athletes aware of their risks.

Deborah is accepting registrations on their website right now by clicking here. Students 18 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult.
